Course overview

With Kids offers a professionally accredited MSc in Play Therapy, designed for those passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. Rooted in a psychodynamic and non-directive approach, the course blends theory, practice, and experiential learning to prepare students for a career as qualified play therapists.
Graduates are eligible to apply for full membership with the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT), whose register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Taught by practising therapists, the 3 year course provides real-world insights and clinical expertise. Career opportunities include roles in schools, health services, charities, CAMHS, and private practice.
The MSc training deepened my belief that play helps us all to experiment, explore, and make sense of our experiences.

Fees: £5,500 per year, including supervision (subject to annual review). Payable in instalments to Queen Margaret University. The course is eligible for SAAS Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan (note: this won’t cover full fees).
Personal Therapy: 60 sessions required over 3 years (£40-£60 per session)
Play Therapy Kit: You’ll assemble your own cost-effective kit with guidance.
BAPT Membership: Required; currently £38 per year.
Professional Indemnity Insurance: Required; typically £40–£60 per year.
RPVG or DBS check: Required for all students.
