Our Story

With Kids was founded in 2008 by Tricia Hughes, co-founder of The Big Issue Foundation in Scotland.  Her work revealed that many people experiencing homelessness had endured adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) such as trauma, neglect, or abuse – that continued to shape their adult lives through poor mental and physical health, addiction, and poverty.

Determined to intervene earlier, Tricia retrained as a Play Therapist and established With Kids in Glasgow’s East End.  Her goal was to break the cycle at its root by providing children with safe, therapeutic spaces to process their emotions and build resilience.
