Introduction to Play Therapy Workshop
Glasgow: Sat 9th February 9.30am to 4pm - Book on Eventbrite
Edinburgh: Mon 25th February 10am to 4pm Book on Eventbrite
Play Therapy can help to support children dealing with traumatic or chaotic backgrounds. Young children can often struggle to understand or verbalise their experiences and this can have an adverse affect on their ability to manage their emotions. A therapist will help the child to make sense of and understand their feelings, this enables them to cope better.
This workshop is suitable for individuals considering taking up professional training in Play Therapy as well as professionals who are already working with children e.g. social workers, occupational/speech therapists, mental health professionals, residential workers etc. No previous experience of Play Therapy is necessary but a willingness and enthusiasm to be playful will be very welcome.
The day is about exploring the core concepts of play therapy through a series of experiential activities, presentation and group discussions. Participants will gain an understanding of why play is an important therapeutic tool for children and the different ways verbal and non verbal play can be used to communicate feelings, experiences and build relationships.
Lunch will be provided on the day.
